Is Email Marketing really as good as they say?

Can’t you build your business without all the bother of collecting emails?

Have you ever noticed that no matter what, you tend to return to the same grocery store over and over?

You buy your clothes from the same few stores year after year?

That’s because you’re a repeat customer!

Well, online consumers do the same!

When you build an email list and you consistently communicate with them and build a relationship you’ll have repeat customers, too!

I know what you’re thinking…but I have lots of followers on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!

That may be true. But do you own those platforms? I didn’t think so. 🙂

At any moment Facebook can change it’s algorithm’s and zap! no one see’s your posts! In fact, they did just that! Remember when everyone on your friend’s list could see all of your posts? No longer! Facebook wants your money! So you have to PAY in order for a lot of people to see your posts!

Guess who owns your email list? Yep! It’s YOU!

And you own your emails! So, you see where this leads?

Building an email list is vital for any business. It’s the way you give valuable content to your customers. You can share new products with them. You can ask them to share what they get from you with their friends. Word of mouth is still the best way of advertising! That will help build your list even more.

The trend has been to give away something in exchange for an email address for some time now.

And we all like free, right?

However, selling something small to get that email may be a good idea, also. It eliminates the “tire kickers”, the “freebie junkies” and builds your list of actual buyers.

Just something to consider..

So, how DO you build an email list?

First, you’ll need to decide what you’re going to give them in exchange for their email address. So, you’ll need a “lead magnet”. Something irresistible! It can be a how to pdf, an ebook, a membership into your Facebook group or even access to a membership site.

Next, you’ll need a way to collect those emails. You’ll need an autoresponder.

There are quite a few out there. I use AWeber. It’s worked well for me for a number of years. It’s easy to learn how to use. And their built in tracking will let you see how many people actually open your emails and even which email each customer opens! And next you’ll need a way to “capture” that email. You can build a simple capture page, or landing page in AWeber to begin building your list. However, you may eventually want a more sophisticated platform like ClickFunnels. They have a 14 day free trial so you can try before you buy. And then, of course, you’ll want a way to stay in touch with those people on your email list.

That’s another function of your Autoresponder. As you receive an email address onto your list they will be automatically sent an email (that you write) and every day after. It’s important that you email your list daily. Some people say once a week or twice a week is enough. I say, sign up for anything from one of the top people in the internet marketing industry has to offer and see how often you get emails from them! Sometimes it’s several times a day!

Keep in mind, if someone shares their information with you, name and email, you now have an obligation to take care of those subscribers. Give them valuable information. Of course you can sell to them, just don’t do it in every paragraph of your emails.

Now, stay consistent. Building an email list has a snowball effect. You start out slow but as your momentum builds it grows very quickly.
